Short title and inter- pretation.
The King's Most Excellent Majesty in Council.
Whereas circumstances have arisen in the Colony of
Hong Kong(hereinafter called "the Colony") which render it
expedient that provision should be made whereby functions
exercisable by the Governor of the Colony (hereinafter
called "the Governor") and other authorities under laws in
force in the Colony should, so long as the said
circumstances continue, be exercisable by one of His
Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State or by the Minister
of War Transport, and that such laws should be modified in
other respects;

And whereas the said powers include those conferred upon the Governor by the Emergency Powers (Defence)Act,
1939, and by certain provisions of the Merchant Shipping
Acts, 1894 to 19407 in their application to the Colony;
Now, therefore, His Majesty in exercise of his
powers under the said Acts and of all other powers
enabling him
im in that behalf, is pleased, by and with the
advice of his Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby

ordered, as follows :-
1.(1)This Order may be cited as the Hong Kong(Temporary
Provisions) Order in Council, 1942.
(2)In this Order, the word "enactment" means
(a)
any Ordinance,
(b)
(c)
any provision, not made by virtue of an Act of Parliament, contained in an Order of His Majesty in Council,
any Regulations, Rules, Order, Proclamation or other instrument made under an Ordinance or provision as aforesaid,
having the force of law in the Colony on the twenty-fifth
day of December, 1941.
